Completion rate of polytechnics degrees drops in Finland

The completion rate of university of applied sciences (Polytechnics) degrees in the target time decreased in 2024 by four percentage points compared to the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.
The completion rate of vocational education and training and of higher university degrees improved by one percentage point.
Within the target time, 78 per cent completed general upper secondary education, 57 per cent vocational education and training, 54 per cent a university of applied sciences degree, and 38 per cent a master’s degree.
In 2024, a larger share of men than women completed the matriculation examination within three and a half years.
The completion rate of vocational education and training improved especially among men.
Although the completion rate of university of applied sciences degrees weakened in 2024, yet more degrees were completed than in 2023.
The completion rate of master’s degrees has improved every year since 2016.
