Finnish airports see higher passengers in Oct
A total of 1.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in October 2024, according to Statistics Finland.
The total number of passengers increased by 11 per cent compared to October 2023.
The number of passengers on international flights increased by 9 per cent and on domestic flights by 22 per cent from the previous year.
In October 2024, Helsinki Airport accounted for 87 per cent of all passengers at domestic airports.
Eighty-three per cent of the air traffic passengers travelled on international flights.
During January to October in 2024, the numbers of both air traffic passengers and freight and mail transport were higher than in the same period in 2023.
In October 2024, a total of 1.5 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport and altogether 220,000 passengers flew through other domestic airports.
Compared to October 2023, the total number of passengers was 10 per cent higher at Helsinki Airport and 18 per cent higher at other domestic airports.
Eighty-three per cent of the air traffic passengers travelled on international flights and 17 per cent on domestic flights in October 2024.
The share of passengers on international flights was 90 per cent at Helsinki Airport and 34 per cent in total at other domestic airports. Of all passengers, 96 per cent travelled on scheduled flights.
During January to October in 2024, a total of sixteen million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 6 per cent more than in the same period in 2023.
