Number of passenger train trips rises slightly in Q2
About 20.8 million trips were made in railway passenger transport in the second quarter of 2025, which is 2 per cent more than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.
The journeys covered 1.3 billion passenger-kilometres in the April-June period.
The number of passenger-kilometres on rail decreased by 1 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
In freight transport, a total of 7.6 million tonnes of goods were transported, which corresponded to 2.3 billion tonne-kilometres.
The number of tonne-kilometres in rail freight transport increased by 5 per cent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
